Job Purpose:

• Looking for an API by Design Expert with strong expertise in API-first architecture, design governance, and lifecycle management, ensuring standardized, secure, and reusable API solutions across enterprise platforms 

Key Result Area:

• Establish and enforce API design guidelines, standards, and best practices (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, event-driven, etc.).
• Create and manage design governance frameworks to ensure APIs meet enterprise quality, security, and compliance standards
• Drive API-first design approach using tools such as Swagger, Postman, Stoplight, or Apigee.
• Ensure proper documentation, discoverability, and versioning of APIs.
• Partner with business, product, and engineering teams to translate requirements into well-designed API contracts
• Conduct design reviews and workshops with cross-functional teams
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously evolve API design strategy
• Ensure APIs are designed for reusability, scalability, and reliability
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate API specifications into CI/CD pipelines.

Educational Qualifications:

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
• Any Public Cloud Architect level Certification (Preferred)
• Any Programming Language certification
• ITIL Certification

Relevant Experience:

• Total 12 to 18 years of experience in Design and Develop Application which are used at large scale 
• Minimum 6 years experience as Application specialist to design solution, workflow and Security
• Minimum 4 Year experience to work with Platform and Cloud team on application deployment on Public Cloud and API Service deployment through native tools

Desired skills/knowledge:

• Strong expertise in API-first and design-first approaches (OpenAPI/Swagger, AsyncAPI, RAML).
• Hands-on experience with REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and event-driven API design patterns.
• Deep understanding of API lifecycle management, including versioning, discoverability, and governance.
• Proficiency in API management platforms (Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
• Knowledge of security standards (OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, API rate limiting, throttling).
• Experience with cloud-native and hybrid integration across hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
• Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD integration for API specifications and automated testing.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and domain-driven design.
• Ability to conduct design reviews, workshops, and evangelize best practices across teams.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
