About the role

Main Mission

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and continuously improving learning programs tailored to the Network & Security Operations Center (NSOC) environment. 

The role enhances technical, operational, and behavioral competencies of engineers through structured, engaging, and performance-driven learning experiences aligned with business objectives. 

This position is key in supporting onboarding, upskilling, knowledge transfer, and capability development in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational context.

 

4. Key Responsibilities

A. Learning Needs Analysis & Strategy

  • Conduct training needs analysis with NSOC leadership, SMEs, and stakeholders to identify skill gaps in technical operations, tools, processes, and soft skills.
  • Translate operational challenges into structured learning solutions and contribute to defining the NSOC learning strategy and roadmap.

 

B. Instructional Design & Content Development

  • Design and develop learning materials (e-learning modules, ILT, workshops, job aids, simulations) using methodologies such as ADDIE or SAM.
  • Structure role-based learning paths (L1–L3 engineers, team leads) covering incident management, monitoring tools, cybersecurity, and operational processes.

 

C. Digital Learning & Tools

  • Build interactive e-learning using Rise Up, Articulate Storyline, or equivalent; integrate multimedia content & AI-driven elements (videos, quizzes, simulations).
  • Ensure LMS compatibility, maintain digital learning libraries, and keep content current and accessible.

 

D. Collaboration & Training Delivery

  • Work closely with NOC/SOC engineers, team leads and AI Engineers/DevOps teams to gather, validate, and translate complex technical content into learner-friendly formats.
  • Support or facilitate training sessions (onboarding, workshops, upskilling) and contribute to train-the-trainer initiatives.

 

E. Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Design assessments and evaluate training effectiveness using models such as Kirkpatrick; use data and feedback to iterate on learning solutions.
  • Align training outcomes with NSOC KPIs (quality, SLA, incident resolution) and maintain standardized knowledge repositories.

 

F. Operational Alignment & Governance

  • Adapt learning solutions to a 24/7 & FTS shift-based environment, ensuring practical accessibility for all teams.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and version control of all learning materials in line with organizational governance and compliance requirements.

 

About you

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or related field.
  • Certification in instructional design or learning technologies is a plus.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in instructional design or learning & development.
  • Experience in a technical, IT, NOC/SOC, or operations environment is highly desirable.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, etc.).
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Canva, and Excel (for tracking, dashboards, and learning metrics).
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Rise Up, etc.) and LMS platforms (Cornerstone, Moodle, Workday, etc.).
  • Strong writing and content structuring skills in English; French is a plus.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Creative, learner-centric, and adaptable in a fast-paced operational environment.
