System Technical Architect and solution delivery for IoT Mobile Core (4G/5G Data, IMS, SMS)

Context
In the context of new IoT offers development, Orange aims at building and operating a new Mobile core dedicated to IoT. This platform is mainly composed of a mobile 4G/5G core network, an IMS solution and SMSC platform, relying on a cloud-native Kubernetes infrastructure, and will support 4G/5G data, voice, and SMS services.

In that context, we are looking for “a System Technical Architect” acting as an end-to-end solution implementation leader, defining, implementing and maintaining the execution-level architecture. 

 

Main Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Solution architect (in charge of HLD), with ‘Telco cloud infrastructure team’ and telecom & IT engineering teams:

• Translate high-level architecture and system requirements into detailed and implementable Low-Level Design (LLD) including:  
  • Overall Kubernetes infrastructure design (as a consumer of the infrastructure: including CNF deployment patterns, namespace and isolation strategies, networking, security and RBAC policy implementation…)  
  • Main application-level configurations of telecom components (data core network, IMS, SMSC functions, signalling and roaming function etc…)
  • Flow matrix, networks, IP address plan, security policy for the overall architecture including interworking with external network and systems
• Manage capacity planning according to traffic forecasts
• Ensure that the system is observable, traceable, and perform low-level design of monitoring / observability, tracing tools with concerned experts
• Ensure that the architecture is secured by design in strong coordination with security team
• Manage the delivery of the solution by:
  • Working closely with infrastructure teams in charge of K8S cluster build and operations
  • Coordinating the “engineering teams” of the project (per sub-system) to ensure that the vertical and horizontal integrations are done and validated step-by-step
  • Managing dependency with external teams
  • Understanding and applying Orange processes for obtaining IP pools, feeding referentials, opening flows across different networks and build complex end-to-end integrations
  • Refining architecture when integration issue at met, in coordination with the system architect and engineering teams
• Structure and maintain documentation and version architecture evolutions
• Contribute and provide support to “Qualification team” by:
  • Defining the target call flows for Voice, data, SMS services
  • Contribute to the definition of the testing strategy, 
  • Supporting for complex integration issues, troubleshooting, traces analysis 

Required Skills

Technical skills: 

Telecom system expertise (mandatory): 4G EPC / 5G Core (5GC), IMS / VoLTE / SMS architectures, signaling protocols (SIP, Diameter, HTTP/2 SBA)

IP/Infra low-level architecture design skills (flow matrix elaboration, IP/MPLS Networking, security architecture, resilient architecture implementation…)

Cloud-native & Kubernetes/dockers skills (consumer level)

Complex integration & troubleshooting skills, security & operability awareness (design for security, observability, easy operation)

DevOps practices awareness

 

Non-technical skills: 

Ability to work in a large and complex organization

High skills of communication to interact with several teams, in an international context

High skill of self-organization and low detail handling

Ability to analyze / compare / propose decisions on complex architectural topics

Ability to document and to organize / structure documentation efficiently

Profile

• Senior technical architect with 10 years experience 
• significant experience as a technical system architect in a large-scale mobile project
• Engineering degree or equivalent in telecommunications, computer science, or related fields.
