About the role

 

This role provides a unique opportunity for recently graduated lawyer with 2-3 years of PQE to be part of a dynamic Legal team in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

The position will be based in Singapore and will report to the Legal Counsel for ASEAN, Japan & Korea (AJK) in Singapore.

 

The position will provide legal and operational support to Orange Business in the AJK region and across APAC.  

 

The candidate will interact and benefit from the support of an experienced legal team based in various countries across the APAC region, and from the expertise of the Orange Group worldwide legal team.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide legal support to internal stakeholders of Orange Business for APAC, and particularly the AJK region: 
  • quality legal support to the internal clients for Non-Disclosure Agreements, RFP responses and the drafting and negotiating of customer and supplier contracts across a wide range of services in the Information, Communications and Technology sector (ICT), including connectivity, cloud, security and other services for Orange Business.
  • provide general legal advice and support to other functions of Orange Business as required, e.g., Human Resources, Finance, Sourcing, Real Estate & Facilities Management etc.
  • engage with outside counsel across the APAC region. This may include obtaining advice from outside counsel on contractual matters and specific country laws and regulations, managing dispute resolution cases and drafting of documents to support corporate filings and transactions.
  • Participate in regional and global meetings and projects to support the Orange Business Global Legal team and the business.

 

About you

 

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate should have an excellent academic background with a law degree from a reputable university and must be qualified to practice law in Singapore.   This role would ideally suit someone in private practice who would like to make the move to an in-house role.
  • 2-3 years of experience working in an international corporation or law firm is strongly preferred. Experience in the ICT is beneficial but not required. 
  • Prior experience in contract drafting and commercial/transactional negotiations, particularly in international commercial transactions, is required. 
  • The candidate must have an excellent command of English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Mandarin is a distinct advantage.
  • In addition, the candidate should also possess the following skills:
    • Critical Thinking and Effective Communication: Ability to deal effectively with team members and internal clients and have the presence and credibility to secure support and buy-in for a course of action. Must also possess good relationship building and networking skills. 
    • Solutions Orientation:  Clear focus and ability to achieve company business goals through proactive, creative thinking and responsiveness. 
    • Independence and Self-Awareness:  Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.   The successful candidate will have self-awareness and the ability to build trust and respect with other team members.
    • Communication and Teamwork: Experience in working on cross-cultural, cross-border and multi-jurisdiction transactions is favoured, as the ability to influence and work cross functionally and across different jurisdictions is crucial in a global organization like Orange Business.
