Orange Business is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our development team and contribute to the design and implementation of a new enterprise reporting solution.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing scalable and secure data platforms, developing reliable data pipelines, defining data models, and contributing to the overall data architecture. The role also requires close collaboration with technical teams, business stakeholders, and solution architects to translate reporting requirements into efficient and maintainable data solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable data architectures using Microsoft Fabric, including:
  • Fabric Lakehouse
  • Fabric Data Warehouse
  • Microsoft Fabric Data Factory
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Implement CI/CD practices for data engineering workflows and deployment processes.
• Develop advanced data models using:
  • Star schema
  • Snowflake schema
  • Data Vault
  • Other dimensional and enterprise modeling approaches
• Design and optimize data warehouse and lakehouse solutions for reporting and analytics.
• Develop efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformation logic.
• Work with both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Apply database optimization techniques, including query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and performance monitoring.
• Build and maintain distributed data processing solutions using Apache Spark, Hadoop, and related big data technologies.
• Develop and manage data workflows using Apache Airflow and other orchestration tools.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and traceability.
• Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams, including Power BI developers and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of data security and compliance standards, including:
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Data masking
  • Data encryption
  • Secure access management
  • Auditing and data governance
• Participate in architecture decisions and provide technical guidance to development teams.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to technical documentation, coding standards, development practices, and operational support.
• Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers when required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or related fields.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architecture.
• Proven experience designing and implementing production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with CI/CD for data engineering and analytics solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of data modeling techniques, including Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and Data Vault.
• Strong SQL development and database optimization skills.
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Practical knowledge of big data and distributed computing, including Hadoop and Apache Spark.
• Experience with Apache Airflow or similar data orchestration platforms.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Python.
• Experience with Azure data services, such as Azure Data Factory and related Microsoft data platform technologies.
• Experience with Databricks and Spark-based data processing.
• Understanding of data security, governance, privacy, and compliance practices.
• Experience working with Power BI or supporting reporting and business intelligence solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a development team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications related to Azure Data Engineering, Fabric, or data analytics.
• Experience delivering enterprise reporting or business intelligence platforms.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, data cataloging, lineage, and governance.
• Experience implementing automated data quality checks and monitoring.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment practices.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles and enterprise identity management.
